Daily Tot 7/15/2021

Sorry for the lack of tots in past 2 days. I completely forgot. Please expect the June and July issues to both come out very soon. If the June Issue is not there by next week you may yell at me. And throw rocks and come storming to my house with pitchforks and torches! Feel free to do so! (But do it to Adventure Girl first it is totally all her fault. Hahahahaha.)

The Occulilens

______________ Once on a dark night 4 children were sitting around a campfire. All 5 of them were going for a weeklong camping trip. It was a clear night and stars twinkled in the sky, the full moon illuminating the clearing. The only sounds were the crackling of the campfire and the whistling of the wind. One of the children, Ashley was telling a scary story. "Once on a dark frightening night much like this one 4 children, just like us were camping. It was a dark and moonless night, and the fire was the only light to be seen. Suddenly, there was there was a howl!" she began. But then, their fire suddenly went out. A piercing howl shattered the silence of the night. It was a long mournful sound, like the wind during a blizzard. Another one of the children Richard, got up. "I think something is here.. should we go into the tents now, just to be safe?" "Nonsense, what's the use of camping if your going to sleep so early. I'll continue my story." Ashley replied. The others, Millicent and Jack nodded in agreement. Richard's younger sister Lily was already asleep. So Ashley continued her story. "The 4 children glanced at each other, but continued to eat smores until they heard the snap of twigs, as if something was in the forest coming towards them. They looked around but there was nothing, and the trees weren't thick enough for someone to hide." Just then there was the snap of twigs and the children looked around in fear. Unlike in the story, here something could easily hide in the tightly knit circle of trees surrounding them. All of a sudden the fire roared back to life and something shadowy rose from it blocking their eyes and making them cough. There was a scream then the shadows dissipated leaving the 3 children gasping for air. The 3 children. Richard had disappeared. "Something is going on. Where's Richard?" Ashley asked. "I don't know! But I hereby declare that Jack did it. The fume was just like from one of his smoke bomb thingies." Millicent said, glaring at her twin. "I was right here! I couldn't have done anything!" Jack protested. Suddenly there was another crackle and the fire went out. In silent agreement all the children hurried to their tent. They soon fell in to deep sleep riddled with nightmares about shadowy figures and brilliant blazed of fire and disappearances. Around midnight there was another howl which woke everyone up. They still remained in their tents. Then there was a sound of a twig snapping, crackle, like the fire had sounded when it started up again, a scream, then a pause, and another scream. Millicent had vanished, and all that was left was a few ashes. All of them now realized something was wrong. It was the same sequence as before. Fire goes out, (it had already been out that time), twig snapping, fire starting up again scream, someone disappears. The second scream had been when they saw that Millicent was gone. By now, Lily had woken up and had to be filled in. They decided to investigate right away. They set a trap. They went to the surrounding area and removed all the twigs. Then they dug a hole and covered it with twigs. They threw a tarp over the firewood after putting out the fire. Then they hid behind the trees to watch leaving only Lily sleeping near the pile of twigs over the hole as bait. It happened again soon. A long mournful howl. Then they saw some footprints suddenly appear in the ground. Next, the mysterious maker of the foot prints must have stepped into the hole they had covered with twigs because the twigs fell in. They all ran and leaned over the hole and suddenly Lily vanished. Then Jack. Then if there had been one more person there to look they would have seen Ashley disappear. In the hole they could suddenly see a girl, and standing next to Richard and Millicent. "Where were you guys!!!" Ashley shouted. "They were right there. Just invisible. You see I am and Occulilens. Basically kind of like a werewolf but you turn invisible on the full moon. You can also turn invisible other times but you automatically turn invisible on the full moon." Seeing that they were very confused she continued hurriedly. "It is very cool. During the full moon which is setting now, you have to go around and make other people Occulilens. Except for that part it is very cool. Now it's dawn so you can be visible again if you want. Sorry about scaring you, like I said during the full moon you have to randomly make people Occulilens as well and the other stuff is part of the procedure. Also the ash thing was just randomly on my foot. Sooo hi, by the way my name is Cara!" she said. "I think I understood what you said but it is weird. If someone was to write a story about what just happened to us it would have the worst most confusing ending ever. So just in case anyone ever writes this as a story, they should add a Finally about now." Ashley said. Finally. "Also we have invisibility powers this is the best!!!!!!!" Richard said. Now because Richard spoke after the ending we need another finally. Finally. "I love this eek!" Millicent shrieked. "I know! It is cool. Unbelievable and inexplainable but cool!" Jack said. NOW FINALLY. THIS STORY IS OVER. FINALLY. "It's called Occulilens because its a combination of the Latin word for hidden occultatum, and Latin for contagious, pestilens. Roughly translated." Cara said. THIS STORY IS OVER EVERYONE STOP. THIS STORY IS OVER. FINALLY, IT'S OVER. THE END. (finally!)
