FROSTBITE

_______________ Soft white blanket

Crystal and cold

So still and perfect

But its bite is bold

It pierces through layers

Of thick woolen fluff

Chilling your soul

Winter plays rough

Icicles shine

Bright in the sun

Sharp and pristine

Put an end to your fun

The cold winds howl

A warning to you

Its taken the world

It'll take you too

Season's glimmer

Ice gleams

Frost's shimmer

Iridescent blue sheen

A prickle in your toes

The numbness grows

An ashen blue-white

Your skin is a fright

You thought you were cold

You thought it would hurt

But the pain loosens its hold

You find yourself inert

A warmth creeps over

A blessing to the heart

A mercy till you depart

The shiver is gone

You cannot go home

You're stuck in the snow

To freeze over alone
