Shadow and The Viper
Once many moons ago Lily Leaf Forest was not what it is now. It was a place filled with darkness and despair, all because of one creature. The Viper. The Viper refused to share the forest with other predators and with a brigade of snakes hardly any animals ever dared to step foot in the forest, rather crowding the neighboring ecosystem, the Black Forest.
Now though at first the predators of the black forest gleefully accepted the prospect of extra food, they had a responsibility to keep the ecosystem maintained and soon the animals fleeing from Lily Leaf grew to too much for them. As the Vipers rule grew stronger, predators and woodland creatures alike fleed the forest. The animals overpopulated, and the Black Forest predators grew tired constantly hunting and running around. Besides, the forest was growing quite cramped for the original inhabitants of woodland animals. So the woodland creatures teamed up with the predators, tigers and hawks and that sort, to make Lily Leaf safe again for it's original inhabitants.
Having no idea what to do they sought out the Hissing Tree, a strange tree that hissed advice to all that asked for it. The Hissing Tree said that it would deal with the problem itself, and out from under it's roots slithered a long anaconda snake. Seeing the true form of the hissing tree shocked the animals. They wondered how another snake would overpower the viper alone.
Little did they know that the snake would seek help from another, Shifter the Mongoose. Now Shifter and the anaconda, Shadow had been friends, as long ago they had to team up to face another threat to the balance of the forest. But, that's a story we won't go into. Anyway, quickly Shifter and Shadow formed a clever plan. Shifter called upon his mongoose clan and they attacked the gang of snakes of the viper, knocking them down easily. Those who were not attacked fleed the forest.
Now only the Viper remained. Shadow was old and most likely could not face the snake in battle alone. So Shadow cleverly left one of his old skins on the outskirts of Lily Leaf, to make the Viper realize he wasn't alone. The Viper fell for it and went to the edge of the forest and then beyond to hunt down the intruder. Immediately he was killed by the people in the town who were not eager to have a predatory animal there killing their livestock and pets.
Once this was done, the Viper told the former inhabitants of Lily Leaf they could move back, and they were indeed thankful. However the Black Forest inhabitants though at first overjoyed when they left, felt sadness when Shadow told them he too would be moving to Lily Leaf. So he departed and the Hissing Tree was forever silent after that.
Shadow had many offspring in Lily Leaf, and his descendants still roam there to this day. I suppose if it wasn't a dangerous forest filled with animals that might like to kill a snake, you could call it a happily ever after.
