Good evening, writers! Have you been participating in this year's National Poetry Month challenge? Every poem submitted in the Form (linked in the button below) will be featured in the daily post. Today's theme was about igloos, had to tie into nature, and had to evoke anger, or somehow mention being mad. This is what I wrote!
Ice House
A home is cozy and relaxing and warm
And toasty and happy and calm
Ice is a brick of cold
Frozen shards of ick
Why, oh, why? Would someone make a home
In icky, freezing, oh so sticky ice!?
Touch the ice, your skin is stuck
Smell the ice, like rotting muck
Look at the ice and your head goes dizzy
Taste the ice and your tongue will spinny
Hear the cracking of the blocks
A home should make you feel safe, not that it will suffocate and melt
I've had a general idea of this poem ever since I added igloos to the calendar for this month, and I'm excited to hear your feedback! The chat in the bottom right corner (or any other private message) is a great way to reach me or Noodly Girl, but poem submissions must follow the procedure outlined in the post linked here. Happy National Poetry Month!
