Good evening, poets! It may or may not be 11 PM at the time of writing this, but let's just pretend it's 7 or something, okay?
This week is the last one for our National Poetry Month challenge, and the theme is art. How fitting, seeing as today I found out that I was accepted into a High School credit Art class for 8th grade! Anyways, today's poem is about books, and, uh, dying? Being stressed? Burnt out? I wonder how you took the x_x emoji...
To Read
Pages and pages filled with names of sets of pages
A bundle of pages that I'm yet to read
Meet a new person? They'll add a few more
According to these pages, it'll take years and years galore
To even dream about, fathom to, finish them all
But before you get your hopes up, you'll be crushed by releases
Oh, the releases! Of a famous or new author
A bestseller, vogue, topical it soon becomes
And just adding it to the page of pages won't do
For everyone speaks of it, and you must too
Oh, reading! Sets of pages, write their names on other pages
It's fun while it lasts, but spirals into distress
Keeping up with all the timelines and stories and worlds
All while trying to finish the page before it grows more
All while waiting for the writers for more sets of pages to add to the page
This poem was one of the easier ones for me to write, purely because most of these feelings are mine! The page in question is my To-Read list, and 'sets of pages' are books, if you didn't understand. The 'pages with names of sets of pages' is 'a list with the names of books', referring to a to-read list. Anyways, I hope that clarifies any misunderstandings, and I'll be back with someone... crying about music notes? W-what? Er, tomorrow. Happy National Poetry Month...?
P.S. - If you're looking for more sets of pages to add to your page of names of sets of pages, why not check out Stardust Books (update to Window coming soon!) or read Noodly Girl's Weekly Tots and Weekly Stories?
