Hello existent, nonexistent, and incorporeal readers! This week is AG's Weekly Tot and the last week of the National Poetry Month Challenge. Make sure to submit some work for Adventure Girl, and get to be featured in a post. Recently, I was scrolling through Quarantime, and discovered, that to my horror the April 3rd and March 5th Weekly Tots featured the same poem. I thought I would just edit the April 3rd Tot, but it would be easier to read and access the new poem as a separate post. Apologies to anyone who was confused by the repeat. Here's a quick poem.
Seasons: Pt 1; Summer
Winter's fury
Autumn's scorn
Spring's disdain
At Summer's morn
Bright hot day
Wilts Spring flowers
Bright green leaves
Far from Autumn's showers
Winter lurks in the shadows far
From those who burn in summer heat Relentless rays of our bright star Winter prepares its icy fleet
Autumn hazes loom above To descend in angry droves They whisper of forgotten schooldays Summer taken by the haze Spring buried deep in sunken ground Soon flames will scorch the wound Fresh soil for flowering trees Spring will come again at ease
But now the summer sun shines bright Spring birds have yet to take flight Autumn lost up in the clouds Winter hiding beneath its shroud Yellow grass trampled thin
Children shout and make a din Sugary pools of popsicle juice Still ripe and fresh the summer fruits
While the others wait to fly
Summer soars above so high In the bright blue summer sky Like fireworks on the Fourth of July
I plan to do Spring, Winter, and Autumn poems in addition to this one. The series sort of depicts the seasons as semi-sentient beings since they are angry that summer is currently in place (in the poem, it's spring right now in real life), and are preparing to take over. I hope you guys enjoyed this short poem as a make-up for the repeat!
I'd also like to make a brief announcement. Window will soon be updated with new poems. I've written a lot of new poems, but not quite enough to make a sequel. Meanwhile, Window is really short, and not long enough to consider a book. This is just a quick notice that Window will be updated by May 2nd. The poems will probably be my NPM Challenge responses and poems already posted on Quarantime, just compiled into one collection.
Come back soon!
